Updating to REST 3.6 Single User WINDOWS
Launch your browser
Go to www.realestatesuccesstools.com.
From the Support Menu
Click on the sub-menu "Downloads & Demo".
Select File to download
Click on "Windows REST v3.6RevC Empty" to download the Windows updater.
Save the installer...
to your Desktop.
Running RESTv36 Installer
Double-click the RESTv36Installer on your Desktop.
Click "Run".
Then click NEXT
Click "Next".
License Agreement
Choose "I agree" and click "Next".
Click "Next".
Click "Yes".
Click "Start".
IMPORTANT! Because you are updating your previous version of REST, uncheck "Launch REST v3.6" then click "Exit".
Locate your current REST folder (default is Program files)
Navigate to Program File folder.
Start Menu>My Computer>C Drive>Program Files. If these files are hidden, reveal.
Double-click to open the REST folder to reveal the contents.
Locate the REST.USR file
AWOC!
(Always Work On a Copy)
Good Rule to follow when updating!
a. Copy the REST.USR file (control-c or right-click). Example shows the RESTv35.USR file. Yours may be another version.
b. Paste the .USR file to your desktop (control-v or right-click).
Preparing your old REST.USR file
Click once to highlight the file name; click a second time to edit.
Renaming your old REST file
Highlight and rename this file (exactly) REST_old.USR.
NOTE: If the Type of file is not displayed, you can do the following:
From the Tools Menu: Select > Folder Options.
View Tab.
Un-check "Hide extenstions for known file types".
Click "OK".
a. Copy (or drag) the REST_old.USR file...
b. and drop or paste into the new RESTv3.6 folder.
With REST_old.USR now located in the RESTv3.6 folder, you are ready to run the updater.
Ready to run the Updater
Launching REST v3.6
Double-click the REST.exe to open REST or launch REST from the New shortcut on your desktop.
First Login Information
Open REST using:
Account Name: Demo User
Password: demouser
Click "OK".
Click the "Update" button.
Verify that each step has been followed
Click "Continue with Update" when you are ready to proceed.
REST sample Action Templates
Click "No, do not include" if you are updating from REST 3.5. Your REST file already has these Templates.
REST sample Mail Templates
Click "No, do not include" if you are updating from REST 3.5. Your REST file already has these Templates.
b. Click "Proceed".
Opening old REST for Update
The updater will now open your old copy of REST.
Enter your normal Owner-level account name and password.
Click "OK".
Depending on the size of your old REST file, updating may take a few minutes.
Record Assignment
Read the dialog box and click "Continue".
Update Complete!
Re-Launch and begin using your New Version of REST!
Update Notes
After your update is complete we recommend you perform a little clean up.
- Remove the REST_old.USR file from the new REST folder
- Remove the old REST shortcut from your desktop to prevent opening the older version
- Remove the REST Installer from your desktop
- Once you are confident that your new version of REST has updated, you can delete or archive the
older version of REST
